THOUGHTS ABOUT:

STORM BOY BY:COLIN THIELE

FROM THE STUDENTS AT WICKFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

We read Storm Boy by Colin Thiele as part of our study of Australia. We found the Coorong along the southern coast of Australia, near Adalaide. We also found Kangaroo Island. We believe this story is realistic since the place and setting follow the facts as we know them.

It was exciting when Mr. Percival saved six crew members on a very windy day. My dad hunts but would never treat wildlife the way those hunters did. Joe

It was sad when the other pelicans had to go. You could tell that Storm Boy was very happy when Mr. Percival, his favorite pelican, came back to live with him. Matthew

My favorite character in the story was Mr. Percival. I liked the story alot. I liked reading about how Strom Boy took care of the babies and Mr. Percival. I take care of my baby sister. I only don't like the part when Mr. Percival got shot. Robin

I think the story was sad. It reminded me of my dog that died. He got hit by a car. I was very sad when it happened. But I really liked the ending when they buried Mr. Percival where they thought he deserved to be buried. Erica

It was funny when Mr. Percival did some things but near the end it got sad. When Mr. percival was shot it started to get really sad. It was mean of the hunters to shoot Mr. Percival. Mr. Percival just wanted to warn the birds from being shot and that was nice of him. Maggie
