WELCOME TO 
NO ONE SHOULD BE HUNGRY: FRENCHTOWN SCHOOL FEINSTEIN PROJECT
Project Overview:
Students in grade K-3 will prepare a meal once a week for 16-20 residents
at Welcome House, a homeless shelter in South
Kingstown, Rhode Island. This Feinstein Kids Can
Make a Difference community service project provides students with activities
that integrate the teaching and learning of mathematics
andscience.
Students will use the internet to collect information and engage in collaborative
and critical thinking with others about this significant social issue. In
addition to acquiring new science and mathematics skills through hands-on
learning, students will be involved in service based education and make
a positive impact on their community.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The students will use their math and research skills to create and manage a classroom/school
store in North Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
Grade 3-4
POWER OF VOTINGPROJECT OVERVIEW:
Students will become aware
and have an understanding of the process of voting,tallying and recording
votes in a democratic presidential election.
Activities will include e-mailing
other students, Internet Scavenger Hunt, and a polling
survey with resulting data collected, graphed, and interpreted from a spreadsheet.
Exploring Geometry in Art
Project Overview: Exploring Geometry in Art will lead students to utilize technology to research, analyze, communicate, and exhibit new found information. Students will "travel" on the vehicle of technology and observe globally the work of the art masters of the past. Technology will move the classroom
to where student's imagination and interests will take them. As a final project, students will create individualized geometric art objects for exhibit.
