My interest in technology and the role it plays in education led me to taking a year sabbatical to study "Computer Applications and Telecommunications". I've had the pleasure of working with three teachers from other parts of the state at URI (University of Rhode Island). We made up the "94-95" team of teachers called "Teachers-in-Technology".
The teachers in Rhode Island all have free Internet access provided by RINet, a group of volunteers and institutions committed to providing internet access to all of K-12 in the state. Through the efforts of this group, during the summer of "95" we, the Teachers-in-Technology, were joined by several other teachers from Rhode Island to make up the telecommunications training teams of Project SMART. Because of the training provided by these teams more than 80 teachers in Rhode Island are now ready to begin integrating telecommunication projects into their curriculums.
In preparation for my return to teaching I prepared a WEB PAGE to be used by my colleagues and students.
